Silent Auction Instructions

Would you like to bid on one of the paintings included in the silent auction at Meekins Library? To get started, visit Meekins during the library’s regular open hours April 3-27 and follow the four steps below. (Note that these instructions are also posted at the library.)

1. Fill out a bidder registration sheet at the front circulation desk. Be sure to take the matching bidder number card with you. You can use your bidder number to bid on any painting included in the silent auction. (Paintings with blue dots on their labels are reserved for the live auction on April 27th.)

2. In the library’s Neil Hammer Gallery, locate the 3-ring binder of bid sheets that goes with each wall of paintings (north, east, and south). You’ll find the binder on the counter or high table along each wall.

3. Locate the bid sheet for your painting of interest inside the binder. Bid sheets are in sequential order from left to right, top to bottom, for each section of a wall. Each sheet includes a photo of the matching painting at the top.

4. On the bid sheet, enter your bidder number and your bid amount in the next open row of bids. Note that each new bid must be at least $25 higher than the previous bid.

You can place new bids on paintings as often as you like until silent bidding ends at the closing reception on April 27.

Winning bidders who attend the reception will be able to take their paintings home that night.  Winning bidders who cannot attend the reception will be notified afterwards and may pick up their painting at the Grange exhibit April 28-29.

Don’t miss this chance to own an original Greta Carey painting and support the Williamsburg Libraries, Historical Society, and Grange at the same time. Thank you for bidding!
